Replacing the sparkplugs on a 106 GTi

For a good ignition of your engine, it's good to replace the sparplugs on time. A job you could easily do yourself and so saving money for not going to a garage. The following steps are done one a 106 GTi.

    The costs of the sparkplugs depends on the brand. In this article, Peugeot sparkplugs are used.

      Step 1

    Unscrew the plastic cover. Beneath the cover lays the ignition coil. Disconneect the plug (on the right) of the ignition coil and remove the ignition coil. You can now see the sparkplugs.

    Unscrew the sparkplugs with the plug spanner.

      Step 3

    Remove the unscrewed sprakplugs with a pliers out of the cylinder. Clean up the place of the sparkplug. It's clearly to see the difference between the old and new sparkplugs.

      Step 4

    Srew the new sparkplugs in the cylinder. Should you have access to a torquewrench, use it to tigthen the sparkplug using a setting of 18 lbs-ft (25 Nm).

      Step 5

    After fitting the sparkplugs, the ignition coil can be fitted back in it's place followed by the plastic cover. The job is done.
